Why these AMS Performance S58 Intakes

AMS approached the G8X intake system with one primary objective: maximize airflow and efficiency without compromise.

Using advanced modeling, flowbench development, and extensive dyno testing, the AMS Snailworks Engineering Team redesigned the airflow path from the filter all the way to the turbocharger compressor wheels.

At the heart of the system are massive 3.5-inch carbon fiber intake tubes paired with oversized cast aluminum turbo inlet elbows. The inlet elbows provide up to a 128% larger cross-sectional area compared to the OEM piping, allowing significantly more air to reach the S58's twin turbochargers.

AMS also carefully optimized the geometry of the intake tubes, silicone couplers, and filter entrances to promote smooth airflow while minimizing turbulence and pressure drop.

Flowbench testing showed up to a 48% reduction in intake restriction compared to the factory system, with the AMS setup also producing closely matched airflow between both banks of the S58.

The result isn't simply a better-looking intake system. It's an intake engineered to support serious S58 power.

Dyno-Tested Performance

AMS didn't stop at flowbench testing.

During independent testing on a modified 2023 BMW M3 Competition xDrive running E60 and supporting modifications, the AMS intake system produced a maximum gain of +86 WHP over the factory intakes at 5,900 RPM, along with an average gain of +66 WHP above 5,000 RPM after recalibration to take advantage of the additional airflow.

These results demonstrate one of the biggest advantages of the AMS design: allowing the S58 to continue breathing efficiently as airflow demand increases toward redline.

Actual power gains will vary depending on tuning, fuel, supporting modifications, environmental conditions, and vehicle configuration.

Filter Maintenance

The included dry filters are designed for easy maintenance without requiring filter oil.

For routine servicing, AMS recommends using compressed air at approximately 30–40 PSI from the inside of the filter outward. For deeper cleaning, a mild biodegradable cleaner can be used before thoroughly rinsing and allowing the filter to fully dry before reinstallation.
