Why this Brake Rotor

The BMW G8X platform combines serious horsepower with substantial vehicle weight, placing significant demands on the braking system during spirited driving and track use.

EBC Brakes Racing developed its 2-piece floating rotor system with the same emphasis on metallurgy and friction performance that goes into its performance brake pads. The friction rings are manufactured from a high-copper, high-carbon G3500 disc alloy before being balance checked, metallurgy checked, and precision double-disc ground for exceptional accuracy and flatness.

EBC's patented SD-Drive floating system allows the cast iron friction ring to expand and contract independently from the aluminum center hub by up to 3mm as temperatures change during hard braking. This helps manage thermal stress and allows the rotor to withstand repeated high-temperature braking.

In EBC's Reg 90 thermal fatigue testing, its 2-piece rotors completed two full back-to-back test cycles with zero disc cracking and no visible disc crazing, demonstrating the durability of the rotor metallurgy and fully-floating design.
